Your core is a cylinder

I recently came across a great visual of the core: a cylinder that goes all the way around your trunk. Correct alignment in this cylinder provides you with the best support when you move your arms, legs and head.

Core training is not about doing lots of crunches (i.e. trunk flexion), but about practicing holding the alignment within this cylinder while challenging it in extension, side bending and rotation movements.
